Simple Methods to Improve Your Home’s Curb Appeal

Whether you want to spruce up your home for a fast sale or to instill family and community pride, here are nine things you can do to improve the outside of your property. When you see curb appeal, you know it. A home with curb appeal seems to have been cherished and maintained and have been created with integrity and accentuated with innovative touches. It features healthy, attractive landscaping, attention to color, and a friendly demeanor. When people see a home with excellent curb appeal, they frequently think to themselves, “Wow, I could live there.” Giving your house curb appeal at its finest involves including features that evoke solid emotional charm for you, your family, neighbors—and prospective purchasers when the time comes to sell. Whether you want to spruce up your home for a fast sale or to instill family and community pride, here are nine things you can do to improve the outside of your home.

1: Get rid of the trash.

Remove anything that is an eyesore, such as old cars, lawn furniture, swing sets, empty planters, unkempt garden hoses, and dead shrubs. You get the picture. 3: Improve the approach

As visitors approach your home, they form first impressions. With this in mind, make sure the pathway, stairs, porch, and front door are suitable. For thorough cleaning, hire a pressure washer. Remove weeds from the path and patch any cracks. Consider using bricks or stones to edge a simple concrete way. Lighting is also essential. 4: Pay attention to the entrance door.

If you don’t have a pressure washer, use a long-handled soft-bristle brush and a soapy solution of non-phosphate detergent and water to scrape filthy walls, then rinse from the top down. A pressure washer helps cleaning filthy or mildewed siding simpler, but make sure you know how to use it—the powerful spray may remove paint or damaged siding. Invest in a telescopic wand for a two-story home so you can work from the ground. Spray siding cleaner using a low-pressure nozzle, working from the bottom up, as directed on the package. Then, rinse with clean water using a high-pressure 20- to the 40-degree nozzle from the top down. Keep moving and keep the nozzle at least 12 inches away from the surface to prevent the strong spray from damaging the siding.
